Bastia is the N° 1 port on the island in terms of traffic and the second largest of all French ports. The port of Bastia provides nearly 60% of Corsica’s global maritime traffic, with both passengers and freight taken into account.

The port’s 3 essential missions are:

• Managing the operations, maintaining the buildings and the equipment on land
• Accommodating, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Bastia and Upper Corsica is concerned with the port’s organization, as well as managing and setting up superstructures designed to improve the public’s comfort: shaded parking areas, fountains, sprays…at the same time, facilities providing a more dynamic management have been implemented.
• Encouraging the development of traffic

Development projects have been carried out or are scheduled to prepare the future by:

• drawing up investment programs (2015-2020) based on traffic expectations and the evolution of the fleets
• proposing short-term development plans
• working on important development axes: new lines, new traffic, cruise activity..
