The city of Calvi is built on a rocky point to the Southeast of Punta San Francesco. A square bell tower dominates the upper town, inside the citadel. The lower town spreads out to the southwest with a port on its borders and modern neighbourhoods in terraced rows on the hills. A long sandy beach bordered by pine trees with a railway running alongside it borders the gulf.

The port of Calvi south of the citadel is made up of a commercial port and a marina southwest of the former.

Access to the port of Calvi presents no problems due to its large opening on the gulf and its remarkable landing zone made up of the Pointe de la Revellata with its lighthouse and radio beacon.
